Raymond Laurie Sports Centre Weekly Media Release 17-5-2014

This Sunday May 18th the RLSC will be hosting North Coast region NSW State League Netball finals. Games get under at 8:30am sharp and continue through until 2:30pm.

Monday: The Raymond Laurie Sports Centre is starting up a new open age unisex multisport competition on a Monday evening from 6:00pm.

Tuesday: Junior Basketball experienced another growth in numbers after last weekends Under 12’s North Coast Shield carnival in Yamba. It’s great to see so many new faces getting in and giving basketball a go. In the Senior competition there were 5 games played with 6 mens teams and 4 womens teams taking to the court. In the mens ‘Kangabunnabys’ defeated ‘Yamba Shores Tavern’ 42-25, ‘Bean Scene’ defeated ‘MHS’ 36-22 and ‘LJ Hooker’ defeated ‘Maclean Variety Meats’ 37-35. In the womens ‘Kangabunnabys’ defeated ‘Yamba Shores Tavern’ 37-22 and ‘Watkins Jewellers’ comfortably accounted for ‘Bean Scene’ coming out on top 56-22.

Wednesday: Table Tennis has seen some great numbers return after their short holiday break. Play gets underway at 5:00pm and goes through until 7:00pm. The serving robot continues to help players of all skill levels improve providing a variety of spins and bounces to develop skills.

Thursday: Thursday Netball continues to provide excellent entertainment for all involved with another 3 terrific matches. In the 6:00pm game ‘Anonymous’ proved to be to strong for a spirited ‘Mels’ side winning 23-12, while the two 6:50pm games saw comfortable wins for both ‘Breakers’ and ‘Try Harder’ with victories over ‘YHA’ and ‘Benchwarmers’.

Friday: The Junior Winter basketball competition continues to kick along with all divisions having 4 teams. Divisions include year 3/4 boys, 3/4 girls, year 5/6 boys and 5/6 girls. Games take place at 4:00pm and 4:40pm for years 3/4 and 5:20pm and 6:00pm for games between years 5/6.

Saturday: We are open from 8am-11am on Saturday mornings. Bookings can be made by contacting the centre on 6646 8822.

Gymnastics: The Coastal Clarence cheerleaders are heading to Sydney at the end of July to perform for the West Tigers at an NRL game, they are now seeking sponsorship and looking for local business to help with their fundraising. There will be a family fun day on Sunday 1st of June 9:30-1:30 at the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre; cent auctions, cupcake competition, games, prizes, jumping castle, music and a disco for all to enjoy.
